Dukes Memorial Hospital

Took my special needs son to the ER Christmas Eve. Yes they were busy. But every person there was wonderful EXCEPT Amanda in triage. She rudely told us we should have gone to Riley’s and that “he doesn’t look sick” over and over. She told us we were going to have to wait cause “he looks fine” and there’s more sick people there. She did her best to make us just leave. Well I am a nurse and so is my mother. And after being there for 6 plus hours he had to have a CT scan and he had a lot of contrast still in his system from a procedure he had done 2 days prior. It caused a lot of pain and his colon was distended. But because he’s special needs he said no when you asked him if he was hurting. But his stomach was so swollen his shirt was too tight on him. But since Amanda felt he didn’t look sick….and treated us like we were wasting time.. we sat there for hours! Every other nurse and the doctor was awesome. Amanda….. needs fired! If I talked that way to a patient where I work I would be fired immediately! Another example of how ONE bad apple can ruin the whole bunch.

Worst hospital I've been to! I was brought in by ambulance after my boss called 911. I had horrendous cramps. Got to the hospital and when the nurses found out why I was there I got treated like a drug addict. I was left in a room for over 2 hrs. One nurse came in once. The Dr came in and talked to me like I was stupid. Finally, after my own Ibuprofen, I took before the ambulance came started to work I got up and told the nurse to give me my discharge paperwork. After making me wait for 2 hours with no info on what they were going to do she tells me the Dr ordered a cat scan. Lmao no thanks! I walked out. And to top it all off your hospital sued me for $6,000. Literally nothing was done! A ride to the hospital. No tests! Because I didn't have insurance. After repeatedly telling the check in woman I needed to apply for insurance. Thank God I found a Dr who didn't work here who actually listened to me. I had a baseball size tumor on my ovary that caused me to have a full hysterectomy. No thanks to Duke Memorial and the horrendous staff! To anyone reading this, if you don't have insurance DO NOT go to this hospital. They will take 25 percent of your monthly income for absolutely the worst care in the world.

My wife had a few procedures done at Dukes...she is very pleased with all the staff. The nurses and doctors were excellent. She appreciated that each one came into pre op to talk with her. They explained what they will do. Asked if she had questions. She was impressed. Also, the receptionist and volunteer at check in were great. Thanks Dukes Hospital for taking good care of my wife.
